Another Transfermations, this time, Blackburn…
Where that stand:
Avoiding relegation was the priority last season, but Blackburn are a thinning squad with Phil Jones gone and Christopher Samba on his way. It’s obvious that The Venkys need to strengthen somewhat to avoid a repeat…
Who they need:
Blackburn need a striker unless “the future of Croatian football” Nikola Kalinić begins to show why Bilic gave him that label. Kean may want to ship out Benjani and Jason Roberts who are starting to show their age. Perhaps Sochaux striker’s Brown Ideye or Modibo Maíga, who both impressed last season with 15 league goals a piece, should be considered. Blackburn have allegedly made bids for Dortmund Striker Robert Lewandowski, Roma’s Mirko Vučinić and Roque Santa Cruz. But I suggest they have a look at either Simon Cox or Nickolas Bendtner (I joke)
Behind a key striker Blackburn have Junior Hoilett, who was very impressive last season and has attracted interest from Liverpool. Blackburn will be dying to make a Jermaine Jones – a loanee last season – deal permanent if Schalke see him as dispensable. Otherwise Kean will turn his attentions to Derek Boateng or Oldham’s Dale Stevens.
With two defenders leaving Blackburn will turn to Matthew Upson as a replacement but may well consider James Colins or Wes Brown. Young RC Lens full-back Serge Aurier has also caught the eye of Kean.
Likely Line-up: 4-5-1
(GK) Paul Robinson; (LB) Martin Olson, (CB)Ryan Nelson, (CB) Matthew Upson, (RB) Grant Hanley, (LM)Morten Gamst Pedersen, (CM) Jermaine Jones/ Derek Boateng, (CM)Steven N’Zonzi, (RM) David Dunn, (CF)David Hoilett, (FW) A rejuvenated Nikola Kalinić?
