Manchester City moved closer to securing the signature of highly-rated Udinese-winger Alexis Sanchez for £30million after City officials were in Italy last night seeking to thrash out a deal.
Manchester City coach Roberto Mancini has pinpointed the flying winger-come-forward as his number one transfer target this summer with the Citizens ready to compete on three fronts next term.
City officials are rumoured to have begun talks with the Serie A club over the weekend and are more than capable of matching Udinese’s asking price of £30million for 22-year-old Chilean.
Sanchez has become hot property on the market after he shone for Chile during last summer’s World Cup. The 5ft 6inches winger netted 12 times this season as Udinese secured Champions League football for only the second time and already is a main feature for his national team.
Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo said of the impending deal;
”I think it is 50-50 he will stay here. But if he does go, I would say that the highest percentage is to City, because English football is the richest.
”He can only go to a big team, one that pays him the same as Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo or Zlatan Ibrahimovic.”
