Barcelona Set to Seal Alexis Sanchez Transfer
Barcelona are ready to finalize the signing of Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez after the Chilean was allowed to leave his training camp in South America to finalize the deal.
Chilean coach Claudio Borghi gave Sanchez permission to leave the Chilean training camp ahead of the upcoming Copa America tournament to fly to Spain and finalize a £33million move to the European champions.
The move will come as a blow to suitors Manchester City who were keen on signing the highly-rated winger after some stellar performances at the World Cup last summer. Nevertheless, Barcelona have nipped in and sealed the deal as Pep Guardiola seeks to bolster his already glistening squad.
“It’s a very complicated matter. If we don’t allow him to travel, and the sale goes through, we would be accountable for €30 million in the event of anything happening to him,” Chilean coach Borghi told television station Chilevision.
“It’s very simple, as soon as the confirmation of his transfer comes through, he will have the authorisation [to travel].”
However, Borghi maintained that his star player will not be allowed to leave in the middle of the Copa America.
“If it happens in the middle of the Copa America, obviously not, but we have time and we know we cannot be responsible for that amount of money, so the ideal situation would be for him to travel and sign when the deal is confirmed,” he affirmed.
