Flashback: Real Madrid 1-0 Barcelona: 2011 Copa Del Rey Final

In The Stands’ Rolly Pelovangu looks back to the last time Real Madrid and Barcelona clashed in the Copa Del Rey as Jose Mourinho’s men triumphed 1-0 in the 2011 final

In a tight and nervy game, best remembered for Alvaro Arbeloa’s terrible stamp on David Villa, Pedro’s wrongly disallowed goal in the second half and that idiotic Real Madrid fan who shone a green lazer at Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo’s towering header in the second period of extra-time sealed a 1-0 win for Los Blancos.

Barcelona were thus denied a treble although they would have their sweet revenge days later in the UEFA Champions League semi-final as Pep Guardiola’s men shot themselves to a La Liga and European Cup double.

Real Madrid on the other hand celebrated their Copa Del Rey win in elated fashion (open top bus parade and all sorts) – that was of course until Sergio Ramos dropped and broke the famous Kings Cup.
