Serie A Review

Right so I have missed quite a few Serie A matches so i’ll give you a brief round-up of any big results and then let you know what happened at the weekend.

In week 17 of the Serie A season, numerous games were called off due to the heavy snow but the Inter – Lazio game went ahead, Samuel Eto’o getting the only goal of the game to give Inter an eight point lead at the top of the table  over Christmas. On the same day, Juventus lost at home to Catania. A late winner from Izco saw Catania run out 2-1 victors. Sampdoria continued their run of bad form with a 3-1 loss at Livorno but Roma managed a 2-0 victory against Parma with goals from the on-loan Burdisso and Brighi.

The top three all secured victories in week 18, Inter once again winning 1-0 after an 11th minute Balotelli strike while Juve bounced back with a 2-1 victory away at Parma. Goals from Ronaldinho, Thiago Silva, Huntelaar and a brace from Borriello saw Milan run out 5-2 winners over Genoa, a Borriello scissor kick being the best of the bunch.

The Tuscan derby between Siena and Fiorentina saw Fiorentina demolish the hosts with a 5-1 victory. Two goals from Gilardino, and goals from Mutu, Santana and Kroldrup allowed Fiorentina to ease to victory.

Game of the week in week 19 was found at the Olimpico in Turin where Milan were the visitors. A goal from Milan legend Alessandro Nesta and two from Ronaldinho gave Milan a very important victory against their rivals. Juventus manager Ciro Ferrara could be heading for the sack after this result.

Bottom of the table Siena went to the San Siro after a 5-1 thumping against Fiorentina expecting much of the same but two goals from Maccarone and another from Ekdal had Siena leading the game 3-2 with just five minutes left. Cue Mourinho to pull it out of the bag, an 88th minute equaliser from Sneijder and a 92 minute winner from Samuel to give Inter the three points. Outstanding stuff.

In week 20, Juventus lost again away at Chievo and Inter drew 2-2 at Bari leaving Milan to gain some serious ground. A thumping 4-0 victory against Siena with Ronaldinho netting a hattrick and Borriello scoring another cracking goal saw the gap at the top reduced to six points with Milan now in top gear. Here’s the quality finish just for you lucky people…

We’ve missed you ben. Whats happening to Ronaldinho? is he interested again? is it beckhams service….

It would appear that Ronaldinho has realised he ain’t going to the World Cup unless he sorts his game out so hes pulled his socks up. Him and Milan and destroying teams for fun at the moment.
And i think Beckham’s a big hit again, he got an assist in his first game back, so should do him some good before the world cup.
