England will be aiming for the victory they need to all but cement their place for Euro 2012 when they host Wales at Wembley on Tuesday night.

Fabio Capello’s men are sitting pretty at the summit of Group G with 14 points after six games and a win over British neighbours Wales could prove decisive in the race to secure top spot and an automatic place in next summer’s Championship.

Building on Victory Over Bulgaria

The hosts come into match springing with confidence after an impressive 3-0 rout of Bulgaria in Sofia on Friday night.

In a show of spirit and unity, the Three Lions worked fluidly and richly deserved the win in front of a hostile crowd with Gary Cahill and Wayne Rooney getting amongst the scoresheet.

Although England have yet to lose a home fixture in Group G nothing can be taken for granted especially given the fact that the hosts have been held to two consecutive draws in their own lair thanks to Switzerland and Montenegro.

Still, the last time Wales were on English land they were smashed 4-0 and the premier meeting between the two sides in this Euro 2012 qualifying group ended in a comfortable 2-0 win for England.

Wales Are Confident

Wales themselves also come into the match high on confidence after a youthful side impressively defeated Montenegro 2-1 in Cardiff.

Of course the smart bet will be on a home banker although Welsh wing-wizard Gareth Bale is hoping to cause an upset.

“Hopefully we’ll nick a result over there,” the 22-year-old told reporters.

“[The Montenegro victory was] one of those confidence boosters that you need going into such a big game. We’ll prepare now, get ready for it and give it 110 per cent.”

Get ready for chest thumping, full-bloodied British tussle.

Likely Teams:

England: Hart, Smalling, Terry, Cahill, Cole, Parker, Barry, Walcott, Young, Downing, Rooney.

Wales: Hennessey, Gunter, Williams, J Collins, Taylor, Bale, Collison, Ramsey, Ledley, Earnshaw, Morison.

Prediction: England 3-1 Wales. Can’t see anything but a home win as England’s attack will prove too much for an average Wales defence. Gareth Bale may score a great goal however!
