Chelsea and Manchester City have been put on red-alert after Roma midfield general Daniele De Rossi struggles to negotiate a new contract at the Stadio Olimpico.

Both clubs have been keen admirers of the combative midfielder whose all-action style and play have won him much notoriety on the continent.
Having also captained his boyhood club, and lifted the World Cup just five years ago, De Rossi has proven to have more than enough credentials to handle football at the highest level.
Now, with the Italian international’s contract set to expire in 2012, an eager De Rossi is keen to put-pen-to-paper on a new deal, although Roma themselves are as of now yet to match the 27-year-old’s demands.

A source close to the capital club reportedly told Goal.com that Manchester City are ready to offer Roma £20.3m for De Rossi and can give him £7.9m per annum over four to five years with the father of two being aware of Mancini’s interest and his attempts to bring him to City.
The source adds that De Rossi wants economic and technical guarantees from Roma for him to stay, and if not met, he will not sign a new contract.
With things currently uncertain due to Roma’s financial burdens, the possibility of a shock move to the Premier League with either Chelsea or Manchester City is a real possibility.
So we ask again…will we see Daniele De Rossi in the Premier League next season?
