Carlo Ancelotti has been pinpointed as a potential replacement for underfire Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
According to The Sweeper, the North London club are closely monitoring Ancelotti’s situation and are weighing up a possible deal which will bring the Italian to the Emirates Stadium as early as January 2012.
With the future of current boss Arsene Wenger in doubt, speculation at just who is ready and able to replace the beleaguered Frenchman continues to arise although at this stage nothing remains concrete.
Ancelotti guided Chelsea to a Premier League and FA Cup double in his first season in English football before harshly being sacked in May.
The former AC Milan coach is currently taking a 16-month break from the rigours of club management but has decided to remain in London whilst also working as a pundit forSky Sports Italia.
A friend of Carlo Ancelotti reportedly told The Sweeper that; “At the end of last season Carlo was approached by Arsenal and Tottenham.
“There was dialogue and he would have accepted either of them if they had made a concrete offer but Arsenal and Tottenham did not pursue their interest.
“The concrete offers he had during the summer from Italian and English clubs didn’t convince him. He declined Aston Villa and QPR, and turned down Roma.”
