Cesc Fabregas Is Going To Become A Barcelona Legend
Cesc Fabregas is one goal short of equaling a Barcelona record of scoring in five consecutive matches since first joining the club.
£36 million well spent is the reverberating feeling encapsulating the signing of a certain Cesc Fabregas.
Like most good things, it took a while to obtain, but once held within the palm of the hands, the glory and the benefits of it rendered the wait almost worthwhile.
Step forward Cesc Fabregas. The former Arsenal captain-turned Barcelona star has, quite simply, been on-fire since his summer transfer from North London to Catalunya.
Four goals in four matches and an array of fine assists have seen the Camp Nou faithful warm to the Spaniard, like…well, a lost son!
Now with Barcelona set for a big clash with Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou Cesc Fabregas has the potential to create a little bit of Barca history himself.
La Blaugrana’s latest midfield dynamo has currently scored four goals in four Liga games since moving to the club. If he scores against Atletico Madrid he will equal the record set by Barcelona’s highest ever goalscorer César Rodriguez and former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who both scored in their first five games of a championship.
Impress stuff considering that whilst at Arsenal Fabregas’ best season in terms of goals was 15 in 2009/10, followed by seven in 2007/08.
Of course there is a major difference playing alongside Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta as opposed to Alexandre Song, Andrey Arshavin and Abou Diaby, but you get the drift!
Amongst Cescs’ moments of magic with his new club include setting up the winner against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super clash at the Camp Nou, his superb finish which sealed a 2-0 victory against FC Porto in the Super Cup, as well as a masterful league debut against Villarreal whereby the hosts ran out 5-0 winners.
The 24-year-old also came off the bench to turn the game and rescue a solid point midweek as the European champions came from behind to draw 2-2 with table-toppers Valencia at the Mestalla.
A Barcelona legend in the making for sure. How could we ever doubt he’d make a marked impact at the Camp Nou?!
