It looks like takeover fever is sweeping the football league, with Nott’s County the latest to get Arab Investment
The Sun are reporting today that Sven Goran Eriksson is set to sign a £2 million a year director of football job at Nott’s County. This is following the takeover by the Dubai based Al Thani Investment Group who are worth a reported £1.5 billion. Sven and his long time assistant Tord Grip have been offered five year contracts and it should be interesting how the club will progress over this period of time.
With this massive news Nott’s County fans are understandably in wonderland with recent events. Chairman of the supporters club has said: “I’m ecstatic. I’ve had to pinch myself. I feel like we’re in Disneyland now. I’ve been a supporter for 45 years and this is a proud day. It’s quite romantic really.”
Should be very interesting to see if they will reach the Championship in five years as wanted, but lets hope Sven thinks out his signings carefully and not attempt to sign players that were good for him on Football Manager 2007 again. (ask if you don’t get it)
