Carlos Tevez’s determination to quit Manchester City has been dealt a fresh blow after Corinthians general manager Edu ruled out any future attempt to sign the Argentine.
Tevez is currently suspended from playing for Manchester City after his refusal to come on as a second half substitute during his sides 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich last month.
Corinthians had tabled a £35million bid for the Argentine striker during the summer but failed to close a deal as the South American transfer window shut with both clubs still in advanced stages of negotiations.
With the FA Cup holders desperate to rid themselves of their former captain, coach Roberto Mancini was hoping that the Brazilian giants will renew their interest in signing Tevez who earns £200,000-a-week in wages.
However, new Corinthians general manager Edu has insisted that the 27-year-old is not in the Brazilian clubs future plans and poured cold water on any move for the unsettled striker.
“At the moment there are no plans to try and sign him (Tevez) again”, the former Arsenal star was quoted as saying.
“I’m starting to think about our new squad for 2012 and I’ve talked to our coach about what we need — but Tevez was not mentioned.
“We are always interested in world-class players like Carlos but you need to analyse if it’s right for you at that time to try to sign him or not.
“We have not spoken to him or his agent,” he ended.
Sigh…the search for a new team continues Mr Tevez. Now its time to ring Paris St. Germain!
