Chelsea’s winless run continued after the Blues were held to a 1-1 draw with Genk in their Group E UEFA Champions League clash courtesy of Genk forward Jelle Vossen’s strike.
After their 5-3 horror-show against Arsenal on Saturday, Chelsea coach Andre Villas Boas was hoping for a positive reaction from his men but got the opposite as the Blues limped to a 1-1 draw against the group’s whipping boys.
Ramires had given Chelsea the lead after he shot home when played through in the 26th minute, however, having failed to kill the match, the visitors were pegged back when Genk striker Jelle Vossen swept home at the far post in the 61st minute.
A mini-crisis? Maybe not although what cannot be doubted is that question marks are beginning to surface about AVB and whether or he is the man to lead this generation of Chelsea stars to major trophies.
Still, the 2008 runners-up still top the group on 8 points, two ahead of second place Bayer Leverkusen who they play next, and three ahead of Valencia who themselves overcame the Germans 3-1 at the Mestalla.
