Manchester United Team to Face Barcelona Revealed
The Manchester United starting XI for Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final against Barcelona has been leaked.
According to The Sun United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has opted for the same starting XI which trounced German side Schalke 2-0 at the Veltins Arena in the first leg of their semi-final clash in April.
This of course means that Ryan Giggs, who is currently at the centre of a much-publicised marital misdemeanor, will start the match in the middle of the park alongside Michael Carrick.
The ever dependable and energetic Park Ji-Sung will flank the United wings along with the more direct Antonio Valencia who has been in a good bout of form recently.
Wayne Rooney will support Javier Hernandez up front meaning that Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov and winger Nani will be benched for Saturday’s showpiece event.
The formation means the Red Devils are likely to be deployed in a 4-4-1-1 formation which is flexible enough to revert to an attacking 4-4-2 or even a 4-3-3 should the situation demand so.
40 year-old goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar will make his 266th and final appearance between the United sticks before retiring from football for good with the club poised to sign highly-rated Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David de Gea.
This being so, Fergie’s starting line-up come Saturday evening should look something like this:
(4-4-1-1) Edwin van der Sar, Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Fabio, Patrice Evra, Ryan Giggs, Michael Carrick, Park Ji-Sung, Antonio Valencia; Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez.
In The Stands would like to know what you think? Is this United Starting XI a winning one?
