In The Stands can reveal that Manchester United have completed the signing of Ashley Young from Aston Villa for £20million.
The 25 year-old winger passed a medical in Manchester on Thursday and has put pen to paper in a four year deal.
Young joins highly-rated Blackburn youngster Phil Jones, who made the switch to the Theatre of Dreams having finalized a £16.5m transfer on Wednesday. The move brings United boss Sir Alex Ferguson’s summer outlay to £36,500,000 as the Premier League champions seek to consolidate their grip at the summit of English football whilst safeguarding their belief in young talent.
Young’s departure from Aston Villa could spark a mass player exodus at Villa Park with the likes of Stuart Downing also contemplating his future with the Birmingham-based club who have yet to name a new coach.
