Lionel Messi – Barcelona’s Second Highest Ever Goalscorer!
Lionel Messi became Barcelona’s second highest ever goalscorer after he netted twice during his sides 5-0 demolition of BATE Borisov.

“There is simply no stopping him”; “Messi the record-breaker” were just some of the standout headlines gleaming across the official Barcelona website.
And who can disagree? The current FIFA World Player of The Year is unstoppable and having smashed home his 194th goal for his boyhood club during a 5-0 rout of BATE Borisov, has become a Catalan record-breaker.
The 24-year-old equalled the record of 194 goals previously held by one of the greatest players in the history of FC Barcelona; Hungarian legend Ladislao Kubala.
Kubala spent 10 seasons at the club and netted 131 in the league, 49 in the Cup, 7 in the European Cup, 6 in the Fairs Cup, and one in the Latin Cup between 1951 and 1961.
Messi himself has spent 7 seasons so far at the Camp Nou and has rammed home 39 of his 194 goals in the UEFA Champions League alone.
The Barca superstar has further bagged an amazing 127 goals in La Liga, 17 in the Cup, 8 in the Spanish Super Cup, 2 in the World Club Championship, and 1 in the European Super Cup.
With 194 goals in 280 games, the Argentine has averaged 0.69 goals per game – a phenomenal record for a forward – especially one as tiny as him!
The next milestone is that of La Blaugrana’s all-time leading scorer and perhaps greatest ever player César Rodríguez Álvarez whose record of 235 goals has stood since 1955. We give it one more season before that record falls and Messi assumes his position as Barca’s number 1 scorer ever.
