Gary Lineker Tips Barcelona to Overcome Manchester United
English pundit and legend Gary Lineker has backed Barcelona to triumph in Saturday’s UEFA Champions League Final.
Speaking to the BBC ahead of Saturday’s showpiece event, Lineker believes that the football world are more likely to see a repeat of the 2009 final result in which Pep Guardiola’s men ran out comfortable 2-0 winners courtesy of goals by Samuel Eto’o and Lionel Messi.
”If Barcelona turn up, they win,” Lineker confidently told the BBC. “Barça have got to have a bad day for United to realistically have a chance. Either that or United get lucky.”
Lineker, who had a successful spell with the Catalan giants between 1986 and 1989 also believes Barcelona’s skill and class will override United’s advantage of playing at ‘home’.
”The fact it is in England and they will probably get the vast majority of the support and it is 90 minutes, not two legs, gives them a better chance,” he admonished.
“But if they played ten times, United might win one or two of them, there would maybe be a couple of draws and Barca would win the rest,” he added.
