Arsenal full-back Gael Clichy is ready to join Liverpool in a potential £5.5million deal which could spark an exodus at the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Having rejected two new contract offers, Clichy has also made clear his intention to leave North London with Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Liverpool amongst many other clubs ready to snap up the full-back.
However, it is the Merseyside club who appear to be the front runners in the race to seal the Frenchman’s signature with the five-times European champions having reportedly made an initial opening offer of £5million for Arsenal’s longest-serving player who is rated at £5.5million.
With Clichy’s contract with Arsenal set to expire in 2012, the Gunners may be forced to cash in on their number one full-back rather than lose him on a free transfer under the Bosman rule in twelve months time.
It is widely assumed that Clichy’s desire to move up North lies with his relationship with Anfield director of football Damien Comolli who first brought the Toulouse-born star to London from Cannes in 2003 when he was working under Wenger as Arsenal’s French scout.
The mounting speculation concerning the 26 year-old’s future will concern Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger whose senior players continue to be linked to a variety of Europe’s top clubs with the likes of Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas’ future at the Emirates Stadium also in much doubt.
