Barcelona fell five points behind Real Madrid in La Liga after a late goal by Alvaro Vazquez gave Espanyol a 1-1 draw against Pep Guardiola’s men

In what could prove to be a pivotal moment in the race for the 2011/2012 La Liga title race, Espanyol striker Alvaro Vazquez headed home from close range after Thievy had flicked on Raul Rodriguez’s cross.

Cesc Fabregas had given La Blaugrana a 16th minute lead and Pep Guardiola’s men had two goals ruled out before Vazquez struck in the 86th minute.

Barcelona now trail Real Madrid by five points in the title race and remain in second position whilst Espanyol move on to 24 points in eighth place.
