It’s true indeed. Al-Saadi al-Gaddafi, the third son of dead Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi played football at the highest level having spells with Perugia, Udinese and Sampdoria!
Al-Saadi al Gaddafi, perhaps Libya’s most and only recognizable footballing ‘star’ (if that is what we can call him) had spells in Serie A with Perugia in 2003/2004, UEFA Champions League qualifiers Udinese in 2005/2006, as well as Sampdoria the following season.
However, he 38-year-old forward made just two appearances in Italy’s top division with a solitary outing for Perugia and Udinese to his name.
Still, Tripoli-born Al-Saadi bagged 20 goals in 74 matches for Libyan champions Al-Ittihad Club between 2001 and 2003 and captained his country – winning a total of 18 caps.
Was he actually any good? Apparently not, but hey, to have played for Perugia, Udinese and Sampdoria in Italy’s top flight, Colonel Gaddafi’s most famous son could not have been that bad…we assume!
