Cesc Fabregas Joins Barcelona – It’s Goodbye to an Arsenal Legend
Not since Zora Folley fought Muhammad Ali in 1967 has the outcome of a particular sporting debate been so easy to predict. Well, Cesc Fabregas has joined Barcelona. Surprised? Thought Not!

The inevitability of the move was only eclipsed by Cesc’s ever burning desire to move back home with his Catalan roots firmly engendered in his heart.
The Spaniard has always been a target for Barca coach Pep Guardiola who a young Cesc Fabregas grew up watching and admiring and like the stuff of dreams, the (former) Arsenal captain will get to work with the Camp Nou legend himself.
If Cesc’s motivation for leaving North London was also fuelled by his need to taste more and more silverware, then the 24-year-old could not have chosen a better club to join.
Perhaps he should have made his £36million move one year earlier – that way he may already have had a shiny UEFA Champions League medal in his cabinet as well as his very first La Liga title.

Still, the world’s number one side look even stronger than last season and with bookies readily shortening their odds, it appears only Jose Mourinho’s resolute Real Madrid side look capable of dethroning La Blaugrana.
Fabregas is already rumoured to be ready to face Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabeu in their first leg of the Spanish Super Cup and it is of course a ground where the Spaniard has had success before.
What exactly his move will mean for Arsenal only time will tell. But in their hearts every Gunners fan will intuitively know and understand just why their prized number 4 and star player left the sinking ship at the Emirates Stadium. His face after his side had lost 2-1 to Aston Villa in front of 60,000 fuming Gooners at the back end of last season said it all.
It is an issue which has been debated over-and-over here at In The Stands and across the lips of pundits up and down the land to the point of exhaustion.
So going into perhaps their most important season ever, Arsene Wenger’s men have lost Fabregas and are also set to lose Samir Nasri to title and Champions League rivals Manchester City. Things are looking bleak…very very bleak.
Hopefully Fabregas goes on to blossom at the Camp Nou and if Pep Guardiola stays, the Arsenal legend can and will be part of one of histories most formidable outfits.

It must never be forgotten that Fabregas is a European and World champion, playing an important part in the Spanish national teams transition from nearly men to world beaters. It was a feat which escaped him at Arsenal, nevertheless he leaves English football’s third most successful club with his head held high.
Seven hard years, 303 appearances in total, 57 goals and 100 fabulous assists tell a story in itself. Blood, sweat and tears, so on behalf of Arsenal fans everywhere, In The Stands would like to personally thank Cesc Fabregas for the excellent memories and wish him all the best at his new home.
