Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri Are Staying at Arsenal Insists Wenger
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is adamant that midfielders Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri will not be leaving Arsenal this summer despite much publicized interest from rival clubs.
Speculation has been mounting as to the future of two of the Gunners’ most prized assets with captain Cesc Fabregas being linked with a return to his boyhood club and European champions Barcelona, whilst French star Samir Nasri is rumoured to be pondering a move up north to join champions Manchester United.
Fabregas joined the Gunners in 2003 from the Barcelona academy aged just 16 and in recent seasons has continually been linked with a return to his spiritual home at the Camp Nou.
In light of the fervid transfer talk, Wenger has reaffirmed his conviction that the 24-year-old will remain with the club.
“The Spanish press has been speculating about this for ages now. Let me be clear about this: Fabregas has been with Arsenal for a long time and he will stay here,” the Frenchman told respected French sports channel Telefoot.
Wenger then turned his attention towards unsettled playmaker Samir Nasri whose future in North London also remains doubtful.
“We want to keep him at the club. It is my wish that he stays. If he takes a look back he will see that he has come a long way with us. This is the right club for the players’ career,” Wenger said.
Nasri’s contract is due to expire at the end of next season leaving the possibility of the former Marseille ace leaving the club on a Bosman.
