Barcelona have completed the signing of Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez from Udinese for £33 million.
Udinese and Barcelona managed to come to an agreement with personal terms between Sanchez and his new club being swiftly agreed upon shortly afterwards.
The Chilean becomes Pep Guardiola’s first major signing this summer as Barca’s young coach seeks to build on an almost perfect season last time out.
The deal sees the European champions paying £22.9M up front for the 22 year-old with the potential of up to £10.1m being paid in bonuses to the Italian club.
Sanchez will sign a five year contract with the Catalans on Monday before being officially unveiled as a Blaugrana player at the Camp Nou.
The Tocopilla-born star shot to notoriety after an impressive 2010 World Cup with Chile and an even better season with Champions League bound Udinese, and will provide stiff competition for Ibrahim Afellay, David Villa and Pedro for a place in the Barca attack.
