European champions Barcelona celebrated their La Liga and Champions League success in front of thousands of adoring fans at the Camp Nou on Sunday evening.
The Catalan giants capped off a terrific season by steamrolling Manchester United 3-1 at Wembley on Saturday night courtesy of goals by Pedro, Lionel Messi and an exceptional curling effort by David Villa to seal a fourth European crown.
With the La Liga title already bagged with weeks to spare, Saturday’s triumph saw La Blaugrana complete another league and European Cup double having also completed the feat in 1992 and 2006.
Welcomed back as heroes in Catalunya Pep Guardiola’s men and coaching staff parade the glorious jug-eared trophy in front of a packed Camp Nou to the delight an adoring public.
Carles Puyol led out the team, who mostly donned black shirts with the words ‘Campions’ to rapturous applause. The celebration party was then proceeded by several laps of honours and ‘thank you’ speeches from the players, most noticeably from defender Eric Abidal who was given the honour of lifting the European Cup high into the London sky.
