Tottenham have slapped an astonishing £150million price tag on coveted winger and current PFA Player of The Year Gareth Bale in a bid to ward off suitors.

So any attempt to nick Bale from White Hart Lane will, in total, smash the current £80million world-record transfer Real Madrid paid to secure the services of former Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo.
The irony of this all is that Mark Hughes, as Manchester City boss back in 2009, turned down the opportunity to sign an out-of-sorts Gareth Bale for a bargain £4million.
The Welshman has of course since become one of the Premier League’s as well as Wales’ star players and lit up the UEFA Champions League after some breathtaking performances – most notably against Inter Milan in 2010.
