£150million For Tottenham Hotspurs’ Gareth Bale!

Tottenham have slapped an astonishing £150million price tag on coveted winger and current PFA Player of The Year Gareth Bale in a bid to ward off suitors.

So any attempt to nick Bale from White Hart Lane will, in total, smash the current £80million world-record transfer Real Madrid paid to secure the services of former Manchester United winger Cristiano ­Ronaldo.

The irony of this all is that Mark Hughes, as Manchester City boss back in 2009, turned down the opportunity to sign an out-of-sorts Gareth Bale for a bargain £4million.

The Welshman has of course since become one of the Premier League’s as well as Wales’ star players and lit up the UEFA Champions League after some breathtaking performances – most notably against Inter Milan in 2010.
