In the wake of Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell having his controversial red card against Liverpool rescinded by the FA, In The Stands looks back to a few horrific tackles and leg-breaks which have left us almost in tears.

Who said football was a game for pansies and show-ponies?
The dangers of the modern game have from time-to-time been laid bare for all to see as numerous players, known and unknown have fallen victim to some horrific leg injuries throughout the years.
Here are some standout tackles starting with Marcin Wasilewski of Anderlecht sadly getting his leg broken by Axel Witsel Standard Liege.
It looked deliberate as well as intentional in which case, a guilty Witsel deserved to have his face punched in for his disgusting act.
Roy Keane Tackle on Alfe Haaland
Who can forget this one as a vengeful Roy Keane launched a vicious, premeditated assault on Manchester City midfielder Alfe Haaland to consolidate his reputation as a ‘United hardman’.
It was cowardly and it was a disgrace. Shame on you Roy.
And for the third installment. In The Stands does not even know the name of the player in question, nor that of the man who who made the X-rated tackle, but after seeing this, we feel sooooo sorry for the injured victim.
Eduardo Leg-Break vs Birmingham City
Martin Taylor’s leg-snapper on in-form Arsenal striker Eduardo not only dissected the Croat’s left leg, but also was the beginning of the end for potential champions Arsenal’s title hopes for 2007/2008. OUCH
One to Avoid Watching.
Warning the following is as cringe worthy as seeing a screaming toddler having their teeth pulled out with no numbing agents and a pair of boiling hot pliers.
It is a broken leg and it is NOT bloody funny.
