Ronaldinho’s goal against Chelsea during Barcelona’s 2005 Last 16 Champions League knockout clash was amongst the best goals ever the history of the competition, leaving onlookers in stunned awe.

Did you see it? Did you catch it first time? Did you blink? The answer to each question is, in respective order; yes (but I needed to see it again), no (it was that good), and yes, I blinked several times!

Two words: Simply amazing! Trailing 3-0 after 20 minutes after an unexpected first half blitz, Barcelona were behind 4-2 on aggregate and set for a thrashing, let alone elimination from Europe’s premier competition. Step forward the best player in the world (at that time) Ronaldinho, who reduced the arrears after Paulo Ferreira handled in the box.

Now needing another goal to ensure qualification via the way goals rule, ‘Dinho’ got hold of the ball on the edge of the Chelsea box, shimmied, dummied and faked before toe-poking the ball into the back of the Blues net with a ridiculously-accurate swerving shot. It was genius personified and of course a great goal which we at In The Stands must revisit, again, and again as we blink several times. Petr Cech, yes Petr Cech did not even move!

Relive ‘Ronnie’s’ sensational moment of magic below as we bring you another great goal:

    at least chelsea won though

  • No History

Yes Chelsea won the tie (with a disputed goal by Terry as Ricardo Carvalho clearly tugged at Victor Valdes) – but what happened next??? Did they go on and win it??? NO

Chelsea crashed and burned against Liverpool in the semis. Remember that???It took Barcelona only 12 months to get revenge when they came to Stamford Bridge at the same stage a year later and came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 before going thru 1-1 at the Camp Nou (3-2 on agg).

Barca then went on to WIN it – and then WIN again in 2009 (Andre Iniesta – Remember that!!!)

And then win it AGAIN in 2011. So let Chelsea have their 5 minutes of glory bcoz since that 4-2 defeat Barca have won 3 Champions League’s whilst Chelsea have won a big fat 0 – poor John Terry -

Besides that night – the 4-2 win for Chelsea – the whole world could see that Barca were the better side and dominated – but no matter; 3 Champions League’s in 5 yrs compared to ZERO will do the Camp Nou Hierarchy the world of good!!!

You cant buy history and class mate

Barca should never have been in the 09 final. Chelsea were the better side at Stamford Bridge in the semis, Tom Henning Ovrebo ring any bells? Disgusting refereeing.

You need to chill out pal
