Best Football Advert Ever… Roberto Carlos Japanese Free-kick
I think I have just about accepted the fact that there is no beating last weeks advert, despite its disturbing underlying theme. This week I have gone for a cheesy number from Pepsi…
It just goes to show as long as you wiggle a bit of dollar in front of a footballer they will make anything. This disastrously cheesy advert gets Carlos’ wall to bow giving him space to ping in a free kick. Quite clever incorporating the culture of Japan into the advert but I can’t get over how cringeworthy it is…
Best Football Advert Ever… Sky Sports Covering A Park Match Between Kids 2010
Sky Sports normally do a good job of marketing the new season on their channel, so much so that we have featured them numerous times on Best Football Advert Ever. But this years main advert is absolute genius, centred around the fact that “no one covers football like we do”…
They’ve got everyone to a random park to cover a kick about between kids. Many quotes in this video are hilarious “I think I’m going to play for the blue side, cause I’m wearing a blue top” and “thankfully it’s an afternoon game, because Mickey is not allowed out to play after 6″.
Geoff Shreeves getting fobbed off by the MOTM after getting called for dinner and Kammy missing a goal are the icing on the cake for this video.
One thing bothers me though, the advert is essentially groups of men watching kids, who aren’t their own, play football. Risky subject and one not to be copied across the world…
Best Football Advert Ever… Frank Lampard “Merked” At Tesco’s
During the last World Cup Rio Ferdinand did a show called World Cup Wind Ups and during this advert for supermarket giants Tesco his England team-mate Frank Lampard he gets well and truly merked…
Too many companies are jumping on the bandwagon of doing a football themed advert but Tesco have done the best job in my eyes. Lamps is already the face of Tesco’s and they’ve made an advert relevant to their product too, not just some stupid advert about football.
This kid’s skills with a cauliflower is outrageous and then the mum saying how we wants to be like Wayne Rooney to Frank Lampard. Absolute genius…
Best Football Advert Ever… Nike – Write The Future
For the past week Nike has been floating little spoilers across the interweb in the build up to this advert. This 3 minute world cup themed ad made by Alejandro G. Iñarritu (21 Grams, Babel) was well worth the build up…
I was saying last week how I thought that Carlsberg had cracked it, but Nike have pushed the standards up even higher. I wasn’t sure what to expect from an advert 183 seconds long, but the action never stops.
Drogba’s little chip over the keeper followed up by (has been) Cannavaro’s glorious overhead clearance, followed by a snippet of a typical Italian gameshow with the centre half on (yes it makes me want to watch Italian football too). Endless amounts of footballers star in this advert with the likes of Tim Howard, Fabregas, Iniesta to name a few appearing.
Superstars from other sports like Kobe Brayant – who enjoys a stepover or two and Roger Federer who gets bossed to Rooney at table tennis complete this advert. Oh and to top off the guest appearances Homer Simpson of all people makes an appearance.
Best Football Advert Ever… Carlsberg Team Talk
If Carlsberg made adverts, they’d probably be the best in the world… Well they have given it a go and it certainly lives up to that standard…

English stars across all sports have turned up for this advert along with a couple of FA boys; Trevor Brooking, Stuart Pearce, Jack Charlton, Steve Redgrave, Kelly Holmes and Phil Taylor amongst the recognisable faces in the advert.
This advert is brilliant because of those in it and also the music. Kasabian appear in the crowd egging the team on and their track Underdog is perfect for the nature of the advert.
Throw in a topless Jeff Stelling with the flag of St George painted on him and Tuuuuuuuubes, and you have a perfect advert. If it fails to get you psyched up for the World Cup, I guess football isn’t for you…
Best Football Advert Ever… S1 Shin Pads feat. England Ladies… (possibly NSFW)
This weeks advert is for S1 sports shin pads. It is not a very well known company or advert for that matter but once you see it, you will understand why this has been posted…
England international and current Chelsea Player-Manager Casey Stoney is the star of this rather raunchy advert for shin pads. Apparently there a few other women internationals in the bath also but my knowledge of women’s football is rather limited to the point where I know that Kelly Smith is actually awesome and that is about it.
However after seeing this advert and the picture of Casey below, I might start taking more of an interest in the players the sport…

Best Football Advert Ever… The Redknapps Thomas Cook it
I know you have all seen this advert and are all thinking what the devil am I doing posting this on here. Well for those of you who haven’t seen it, here it is…
Ok if you believe that I have just wasted a minute of your life, I apologise. But I truly feel that the utter shameless cheesiness of this advert is unbelievable and makes it brilliant. Add the amazing Louise Redknapp and then Sky Sports latest pundit Jamie and you have a very good looking pair in beautiful surroundings.
Still don’t agree with me? Well you might appreciate this version by those piss takers over at Talksport more…
Best Football Advert Ever… Cesc Fabregas – Total Control
Yet another advert hot off the Nike production line and this one has Cesc Fabregas advertising the new CTR360 Maestri boots.
It’s genius in my opinion as it shows Cesc being the midfield maestro that he is, but in a Bond Villain-esque way. The boots are apparently not bad either as my captain (and centre half) has said that he’s tempted to get rid of all his shoes and just wear these boots, as they are the most comfortable shoes he’s had.
£120 on a pair of football boots is just a dream for me…
Best Football Advert Ever… Sky Sports Advert 1997
This advert is probably the best and the most famous football advert for those of you who have been Sky Sports fans since it was created. Sheffield United fan Sean Bean fronts this fantastic advert…
Life
It can be difficult
You know that
We all need someone to rely on
Someone who’s going to be there
Someone who’s going to make you feel like you belong
Someone constant
It’s ectasy, anguish, joy and despair
Part of our history
Part of our country
And it will be part of our future
It’s theatre, art, war and love
It should be predictable … but never is
It’s a feeling that can’t be explained but we spend our lives explaining it
It’s our religion
We do not apologise for it
We do not deny it
They’re our team, our family and our life.
Football
We know how you feel about it
‘Cos we feel the same
Best Football Advert Ever… Sky Sports – 2009 season
This year Sky released a double header of football adverts for us to ponder our subscription over. One had the “special one” Jose Mourinho and the second was an attempt at remaking the glorious Sean Bean advert of 97…
The first one is Sky’s attempt to resurrect the “we know how you feel about it, cos we feel the same” campaign. Personally I really like it, a bit of identifying with their public always goes down well.
The second is Mr Mourinho making an appearance on our tele’s despite him being Inter boss. A few slow-mos, some great music and showing passion from players and fans alike make this one my favourite of the year…
Best Football Advert Ever… ESPN – Its Great To Be Here
ESPN are enjoying their first year in broadcasting the Premier League in Britain and this tidy little advert is what we have been seeing on our screens recently trying to get us to sign up…
Personally I like it a lot. Showing the passion of the game is always a good thing, however it’s got a strong whiff of Sean Bean’s Sky Advert of 97.
If you don’t have a subscription to ESPN, it is well worth getting as their football coverage isn’t half bad and they have some cracking panellists like Kevin Keegan and Guus Hiddink.
Not a bad attempt at an advert though…
