Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson caused a stir by comparing striker Wayne Rooney to…wait for it; Pele – in a calculating use of words from the Red Devils chief!
Controversial, delusional, mad, insane, ‘gassed’, true or just daring. Whether you can agree with Sir Alex Ferguson mentioning Wayne Rooney in the same breath as arguably the greatest footballer in the history of the game, the Scot’s comments have invariably stoked up much disagreement as well as debate.
“He looks like he is the best British player so far,” the Scotsman told a pre-match conference ahead of their Group C Champions League clash with Benfica.
“But he doesn’t look like a British player but an Argentinian or Brazilian.”
“I think he’s a typical British player, but there have been British players over the last few years, maybe for the last decades who have similar great qualities that makes them great players, whether it’s a Gascoigne, George Best, Bobby Charlton, Denis Law.
Int: Day – John Henry’s office
Henry: So Mr. Dalglish, you called this meeting to authorise a signing, who do you have in mind?
Kenny: Why, aye we need a winger who will put it on Carroll’s head.
Henry: What’s wrong with Suarez, Charlie Adam, and Jordon Henderson…I’ve spend a lot of money so far…
Kenny: We need another winger, aye…
Damien Comolli puts his arm on Kenny…
Comolli: Another British winger
Henry: Why British, how about Ellia?
Kenny: Na, aye, British…In fact, Stewart Downing
Henry: Why? He’s intolerably dull!
Comolli: Facts…
Kenny: Aye, facts…
Henry: Wait, so what are these ‘facts’ then?
Comolli: Where can I begin, facts…
I honestly can’t get over how good Gareth Bale is. The last two games he has been involved in (Stoke – 2 goals and Young Boys- 3 assists) He has been World Class….
A year ago Bale set the record for most games in the Premier League without a win. There was talk of Bale moving on loan to a foreign club because he lacked the physical strength needed to cut it as a left-back. Now Gareth operates more as a left winger a position Spurs and himself have profited from. At the end of last season the ‘new’ Welsh Wizard scored against Arsenal and Chelsea (In a 2-1 win) and was rewarded with the player of the month trophy for April . I would be very surprised if he doesn’t take the same award for August, after terrorising both Manchester City and Stoke.
I guess your starting to wonder when the rant is coming, well here it is. Man Yoo will buy him in the next two years as a Giggs replacement…and this depresses me!

The match between Chelsea and Birmingham today not only acted as a good antidote for the after Christmas blues, but it also drew attention to the fact that Joe Hart is looking good.
In the first half Joe made a string of fantastic saves, denying Lampard and Sturridge from close range. While in the second he remained solid and confident, despite a nasty collision with Kalou which needed medical attention. The most impressive stat however was that this was the first time in 34 games that Chelsea had not netted, making Joe’s appearance seem all the more impressive.
It was the Loanee’s 8th clean sheets this season and with other English keepers around him faltering, I think he deserves a place (maybe even a starting place) in Capello’s 23 man squad . What do you think?

If the ball hits your head and your sitting in row z, that’s Zamora! – This was sung in its drones last year after Zamora netted just twice in the Premiership. However, Bobby has been in a rich vein of form this season, scoring a healthy 9 goals…But an England call-up?
After Fulham’s decent 3-2 win in Switzerland the channel 5 ‘pundits’ (if you want to call them that) believed, ‘He would act as a good point man for England’. I’m not convinced are you?, well please vote in our poll!
