We may only be a week into the transfer window, but that hasn’t stopped Manchester City from splashing over £60 million on new transfers already. One of those looks to me like the worst we will see this window…
The terrible paint mock ups have started once more I’m afraid folks…
That’s right. I’m calling Yaya Toure’s move to Man City from Barca as the worst move of the window. As a player Yaya is half decent; a decent water carrier, adds a bit of steel and is a good squad player to have. What he isn’t, is a £25 million superstar signing. He was quite simply just a bench-warmer at Barca.
As for his contract, the player will be picking up £220k a week (before 50% tax) making him the highest paid player in the Premier League. City’s stupidity in this 5-year deal makes no sense as he is already 27, so they are buying into the finished product as opposed to a player with potential.
As the transfer window closes it means one thing, no more paint mock ups of players in their new strips. As its the last day of the transfer window I’ve given you a bumper edition of transfers we expect to go through…

Richard Dunne to Aston Villa
Over the last few days Arjen Robben has been linked with a return to the Premier League with Champions Manchester United. As a Man Utd fan I liked the sound of this as Robben is a top quality player and is a little unfortunate to find himself in the situation he’s in following a good campaign with Madrid last year.

Whilst not necessarily needed at Old Trafford, he would be very much so welcomed as he is a world-class player as he showed at Chelsea and Madrid. He was in fact supposed to join United before he joined Chelsea, with a £10 million deal in place. But it’s reported that Peter Kenyon struck that deal at United, then when he moved to Chelsea he pulled some strings to get the deal redone in Chelsea’s favour for £13 million with United unwilling to match Chelsea’s bid.
Everton defender Joleon Lescott has been dropped from the squad set to play in the Europa League Play Off against Sigma Olomouc, could this be the moment he signs for City?
(We paid a graphic designer to show us what Lescott would look like in a City top… OK it was me and paint again)
Everton are set to take on Czech side Sigma Olomouc in a play-off for the Europa League tomorrow and manager David Moyes has revealed that star centre back Lescott has been dropped. It’s been reported that the star is affecting team morale with a poor attitude resulting from his head being turned by the cash and prospect of success being offered from Eastlands.
Moyes said: “His attitude in the past few days has been poor and for that reason I won’t include him. I’ve always thought he was a good lad. But I think he has not only let himself down but his team-mates, too.”
Now if you are not familiar with how I approach transfer rumours (that i believe have some substance behind them) I show you how they will look in the destination clubs kit. This is done using paint and has been done before with Emmanuel Adebayor, Joleon Lescott and John Terry. Without further ado, I give you Martins in an Arsenal shirt.

Spotted on Goal earlier was the story that Arsenal are set to bid £7 million for Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins.
From a Newcastle United view it is a good thing selling Martins. He is one of the massive earners at St James’ on a contract worth reportedly over £70,000 a week so getting him off would be of great benefit. He only managed a return of eight goals last year so should hardly be considered a key player. Last season as I watched every Newcastle game he looked increasingly useless, all that he was good for is head down, burst of pace and then putting his foot through the ball. It didn’t fit what Newcastle needed and I rated Shola Ameobi higher last season and that is saying something.

Another day, another player linked with Man City, today it is Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor. The story looks to have some substance behind it as the vast majority of news outlets are reporting it. The figure being discussed is around the £20-25 million mark, a little less than Adebayor’s self valuation from last summer. I remember him saying when linked to AC Milan something along the lines that, Arsenal bought him for £7 million and were going to sell him for £37 million and so he didn’t mind leaving, as they would be suitably compensated, brilliant.
Anyway, this article was just an excuse to create another of my masterpiece, enjoy.

Granted it won’t take you long to see that I have used paint for all of 1 minute to paste Terry’s head on Dunne’s body, but perhaps I am showing you the future?
Over recent days there has been a lot of speculation surrounding Mr Chelsea, John Terry and Manchester City. A lot of us have laughed it off, as Man City are slowly making their way through every half decent player in the world, and seeing if they fancy a move to Eastlands. But it appears that there is a bit more to it than what we believed.
Terry and City chief Mark Hughes, were reportedly spotted at the same plush Dubai hotel last week. Now I don’t know how big Dubai is, but surely these two holidaying at the same time, in the same hotel is far too coincidental. Its like looking at Steven Taylor clutching his chest, when the away side are claiming a pen, and saying it mustn’t have hit his arm then, things don’t add up. He has been given time to declare publicly that he is not interested in a move, we’re yet to see that.
