Goal Of The Week: Alessandro Del Piero Goal vs Roma: Coppa Italia
Alessandro Del Piero rolled back the years to net an incredible goal as Juventus overcame Roma 3-0 in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals and winning the In The Stands Goal of The Week to boot!
The Serie A leaders were already 1-0 up before Del Piero received the ball 30-yards away from goal, made a mazy dribble before cutting inside two Roma players and curling home a stupendous effort into the top corner.
Out came the famous tongue, then came the gushes of awe and finally came the aesthetic appreciation that the Italian legend still, despite his years (37), has the quality to shine.
Goal Of The Week: Mathieu Valbuena Goal vs Borussia Dortmund
The In The Stands goal of the week comes from Marseille winger Mathieu Valbuena after his screamer against Borussia Dortmund sealed a 3-2 win for the French giants.
Marseille came from 2-0 down to bag an unlikely 3-2 win with Mathieu Valbuena grabbing the headlines after his injury-time belter, thus earning himself the moniker ‘Mr Euro-Millions’ from stunned L’OM team-mates.
The win sent Didier Deschamps’ men into the last 16 for the third successive season and could prove tricky opposition for whoever they draw.
Goal of The Week: Kevin Prince Boateng Goal vs Barcelona
Kevin Prince Boateng is the winner of the In The Stands Goal of The Week for his superb flick and strike against Barcelona in a pulsating Group H UEFA Champions League match at the San Siro.
Although Milan went on to lose 3-2 to the European Cup holders, Kevin Prince Boateng’s moment of magic was amongst the most eye-catching of moments as he flicked the ball up, before skillfully nudging the ball past a bamboozled Eric Abidal and smashing past Victor Valdes.
One word: Fantastic!
Goal of The Week: Kevin Prince Boateng Goal; AC Milan 2-0 BATE Borisov
In The Stands’ Goal of The Week comes from Kevin Prince Boateng whose blockbuster strike against BATE Borisov helped Milan grab a 2-0 win and remain joint top of Group H.
The strike had a Tony Yeboah-type-feel to it although the Leeds striker was more renowned for striking the ball sweetly from a standing volley.
Prince Boateng’s rocket was a tad different although the effect and result was still the same – a thundering drive which threatened to break the BATE Borisov bar in two! Goal of the week for sure!
Goal of The Week: Cristiano Ronaldo Free Kick vs Denmark
In a week filled with some thrilling international football, In The Stands singles out the pick of the goals with Cristiano Ronaldo’s ferocious free kick against Denmark during Portugal’s 2-1 Euro 2012 Group H qualifying defeat coming out on top.
If a picture tells a thousand words, then a video must tell one million more. Simply amazing is how to best describe ‘CR7′s’ bolt from the blue.
Ok, it was in the end little more than a consolation goal as Portugal limped their way into the Euro 2012 play-offs, but hey, at least it was a strike worth recalling and viewing again-and-again! One word: Unstoppable.

Shaun Wright-Phillips Goal vs Vancouver Whitecaps
Step forward Shaun Wright-Phillips whose 25-yard-screamer against the Vancouver Whitecaps gave City a deserved 2-1 pre-season win.

The season has not even begun yet we at In The Stands have already found a contender for Goal of the Season!
Sporting their new red and black away strip, Roberto Mancini’s men were put through their paces before Wright-Phillips settled the clash in the 83rd minute. The goal will take some beating even at this early stage!
Vancouver Whitecaps Star Eric Hassli Scores Goal of Season!
Frenchman Eric Hassli scored the Goal of the Season which earned MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps an impressive 2-2 draw against Seattle Sounders.
The 6ft 4 inches Sarreguemines-born forward seized on a loose ball on the edge of the Seattle area before flicking the ball up with his right foot and volleying a stupendous dipping volley beyond a despairing Kasey Keller.
A catatonic Hassli, who had a brief loan spell with Southampton in 2002, appeared just as shocked as the on-watching crowd after his spectacular effort flew in with aplomb.
So good was the goal, that we at In The Stands are happy to conclude that we may have found our long-awaited Goal of the Season. Too bad Hassli is 30 years-old, otherwise, we are convinced Manchester City will come swooping in with a £65million bid. After all, it was his sixth goal in 10 matches and, if Fernando Torres cost £50million…

Dejan Stankovic Goal v Schalke
Jaw-dropping and amazing, Inter Milan midfielder Dejan Stankovic scored what was perhaps the goal of his life with a spectacular volley from just inside his own half during his sides Champions League Quarter-Final clash with Schalke 04 at the San Siro.
The goal itself came after just 25 seconds as the Serb seized on Manuel Neuer’s long headed clearance to volley home emphatically in what is sure to be this season’s UEFA Champions League goal of the season.
Of course we know what happened next, Schalke went on to win 5-2, but still, Stankovic’s goal will give our Goal of the Month Panel a much needed break this month.
So without sounding too priggish, thank you Dejan! Catch the wonderful goal and enthralling match highlights below.
