Geordie Comedy Gold… That Keegan Rant

This weeks Geordie Comedy Gold is when the title was lost in the 95/96 season. Sir Alex’s mind games had worked and Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan just cracked live on Sky Sports. I remember sitting in front of the TV and just watching in amazement as he exploded. I’d love it…

Geordie Comedy Gold… Soccer AM Geordies

Now this weeks Geordie Comedy Gold is actually through no fault of their own. It’s just the brilliant SoccerAM lovingly mocking the Geordies. This never fails to have me in stitches…

The second guy goes a bit Cockney towards the end, aha…

Pottinger tackles… Alan Shearer Commemorative Plate

An offer too good to miss from the INTHESTANDS team…

Geordie Comedy Gold… Temuri Ketsbaia going mental

This weeks Geordie Comedy Gold is Georgian Temuri Ketsbaia’s brilliant goal celebration against Bolton in 1998. The Times says that he was angered by his role as a substitute, The striker ripped off his shirt, flung it into the crowd, made an abortive attempt to do the same with his boots, violently shrugged off his concerned-looking team mate Phillipe Albert, ran over to the advertising hoardings and began kicking them. “I was just happy to score,” he said later… Classic.

Apologies for the poor quality, it was the best available…

Geordie Comedy Gold… Steven Taylor Handball

It’s been a few weeks since your last instalment of Geordie Comedy Gold but do not fear, for it has returned. This weeks gem is taken from 2005 when Steven Taylor found himself on the goal-line and the ball struck him on the chest on the arm on the chest on the arm against Aston Villa, which incidentally was the same match Dyer and Bowyer got sent off.

I just love the fact that it strikes him on the arm, he tries to con the ref into thinking it hit him in the chest. Then the minute the ref gets out the red, he gets up with a sort of “yeah fair enough” look about him. Brilliant…

Geordie Comedy Gold… Joe Kinnear’s first press conference

A new week, another instalment of Geordie Comedy Gold. This week I give you Joe Kinnear’s first press conference for the club. He was installed as interim boss following Keegan’s resignation and did a good job with the side before falling ill. This press conference earned the F in his nickname JFK. This video contains a lot and I mean a lot of swearing, so if that bothers you, don’t listen. You have been warned…

Geordie Comedy Gold … The Toongerines

taken from the official NUFC site

Following Newcastle United’s relegation some bright spark at kit design, decided to create this away number for the team. Now if it was created as a publicity stunt it has definitely worked, as many across the web have been giggling at the terrible design.

Quite frankly it is a monumental error and an insult to the Geordie nation. The fans who year in year out (take note other fans) buy the new replica kit available to them to show their support for their club, irrelevant of how it’s performing. Newcastle city centre on a match day is purely black and white. Providing this kit is taking the mickey out of the fans, expecting them to wear this rubbish as they watch their heroes. It has been so badly received, that before it goes on sale it has already been reduced by 20%.

Next time Newcastle kit designers think about the fans first, because everyone else is laughing at this.

Geordie Comedy Gold … Bowyer vs Dyer

Bowyer Dyer

Another week, another instalment of Geordie Comedy Gold.

This week is the infamous fight between “best mates”, Keiron Dyer and Lee Bowyer.

Sometime in 2005 Newcastle found themselves 3-0 down to Aston Villa, in front of the Geordie faithful. How do the two players decide to help the cause?

They could have rolled their socks up and put every ounce of energy in to battling for the team, or they could put every ounce of energy into battling each other, in fairness to Dyer, he was the one attacked. (Click below for the video)

As a result, Dyer was banned for three matches following his red card, Bowyer was banned for four and was fined six weeks wages for his part in the incident and the footballing world looked on with a smile.

Geordie Comedy Gold …… Gazza – Fog on the Tyne

A new ongoing series of posts named Geordie Comedy Gold. In this I will show you various bits as to why those outside the Geordie Nation like to have a chuckle about the Toon Army, and not just because of what has happened in recent times.

(For the record I’d like to make clear that Newcastle are in fact my second team and I regularly attend matches at St James’ Park as I live in Newcastle. These articles are for light hearted humour and not supposed to offend the affable Geordie’s)
