Fantasy Football

A premiership fantasy football team just isn’t enough. One must compete on all fronts; be ready for competitions beyond their capacity and clear of their means.  So that’s why IntheStands are fighting on both fronts – The Premiership and the Champions league – to be prosperous and notorious amongst our rival friends.

Our top  3 bargains

Everyone will have two of Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo right? So we’re not going to bother recommending you those, instead we pick five stars that won’t clear out your transfer kit.

Xherdan Shaqiri

At 4.5m Shaqiri could be an absolute bargain. His talent is undeniable and his recent hattrick against Bulgaria for Switzerland was evidence of this. In addition, Basel have a fantastic chance to finish second in their group. Manchester United will be the dead cert winners, but Basel they will certainly fancy their chances against debutants FC Oţelul Galaţi and a depleted Benfica – the attacking flair of Shaqiri could be the difference.

If playing FIFA and Football Manager wasn’t  bad enough I now I have to spend my time putting together a bloody Fantasy Football team. The stress is overwhelming….

Before it used to be easy. Van Der Sar. Done. Nemanja Vidic. Done. Steven Gerrard/ Frank Lampard. Done. Didier Drogba. Done. Then fill in the rest with okay players – that scored from corners, take freekick, score for a shit team.. e.t.c. But this season it’s all changed.

Firstly, Leighton Baines is worth a staggering £8 million. Which means I have to pick either him or Vidic. Rafa Benitez FACT: Last season Baines scored 5 goals and got 11 assists. But will he repeat this feat again? Will Everton be as good this season? I JUST DON’T KNOW !

Here at In The Stands there is a lot of banter in our head office about how everyone is doing in the Premier League’s Fantasy Football game. So we thought that we will bring in number 208 (out of 2.15 million) to give us a few tips. Please welcome Ches…

Fantasy Football

“I would bring him in, but I know as soon as I do he will start playing rubbish.” Ever heard this phrase before? Chances are, if you’ve ever played fantasy football, you have. Together with various other permeations of it. At its heart, this approach represents a decidedly flawed, results orientated mentality that really doesn’t help one achieve success in the game. But it does help clarify one of the finer points of the game. Timing is everything. Fantasy players are akin to mini stocks; you need to know when to buy, and when to sell. Getting this right is a large part of success in fantasy football. Fixtures should undoubtedly be the biggest factor in such decisions. But past history, form (both club and player), finances and that tingling sensation in your stomach also play a role.

Its that time of the year, when there is a lack of football on the television, all the stadiums around the land still have their padlocks on and we are all starting to question life itself.

Well our friends at Never Captain Nicky Butt have got the perfect answer.

Set yourself up a fantasy football side on the official Premier League website (click on the banner below for the link). Log in to the site (register if you haven’t before) and create your side from 100 points available. Lets see you set up a team better than this…

Once you have done that and your team is set up, click on leagues in the top left corner. Under the create/join tab, scroll down and you should be able to enter a code to join a private league. The code is 2274-957 you require and then you should be part of the Never Captain Nicky Butt league.
