Uruguay v Paraguay: 2011 Copa America Final Preview

The Estadio Monumental will be the scene for the 2011 Copa America Final between Uruguay and Paraguay with both sides confident of bagging South America’s top trophy.

Copa America 2011 Final

So where are Brazil and where are Argentina? Of course, such questions will be typically wheeled out by neutrals, especially given the fact that the pair have contested the last two finals in 2009 and 2007 respectively.

Given their absence, we are left with another two sides – both still widely rated and both who impressed during last summer’s World Cup, in addition to the 2011 edition of the South American championship.

Uruguay Prepare For Copa America Final

Uruguay go into Sunday’s final as favourites after an impressive tournament has seen them eliminate hosts Argentina in the quarter-finals before dumping out Peru 2-0.

Admittedly goal-scoring is not exactly La Celeste Olímpica’s forte having bagged just six goals all tournament, but with Liverpool forward Luis Suarez in particular looking menacing, Oscar Taberez’s men carry more than enough attacking threat.

Fact of the Day

Frontman of Glasvegas, James Allan once played as a winger for Cowdenbeath, East Fife, Queen’s Park, Gretna, Stirling Albion and Dumbarton, making 105 appearances in the Scottish Football League. He was part of the Cowdenbeath squad that won promotion as runners up in the 2000–01 Scottish Third Division.

If you have not seen Glasvegas yet, please do, they are great. Why not try and win free tickets to Rockness festival via Monster and see them peform with a bunch of other great artists including Kasabian and Two Door Cinema Club. Just follow this link: and like Monster to enter the competition. Good luck.

How To Win Champions League Tickets!… Thanks to Sony Ericsson

A PR release dropped in my inbox earlier and whilst I normally ignore these, this one had details on a competition to win tickets to Champions League final tickets, so I thought I’ll share the opportunity with you all. Here is the details folks…

As part of Sony Corporation’s existing agreement 2009-2012 with the UEFA Champions League, Sony Ericsson, official mobile handset of the UEFA Champions League, today kicked off a search for Football FANatics keen on making the once-in-a lifetime trip to the UEFA Champions League Final Wembley 2011.

With the Final returning to Wembley Stadium for the first time in 20 years, Sony Ericsson wants to build support for both the Finalist teams across the UK.

The Football FANatic campaign will bring a Manchester United FC fan and an FC Barcelona fan to London to drum up support for their respective sides amongst Londoners, using their Sony Ericsson XperiaÔ smartphones. They will be paired with two London based Football FANatics who will use their local knowledge to help them reach as many fans as possible in London and beyond.
