The world’s most expensive player in history came in for a torrent of abuse during Real Madrid’s narrow 1-0 win at Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday night but snapped back with some choice words of his own.

Speaking after the match, ‘CR9’ blasted his haters by insisting that they target him for his success, elegance and good looks!

“It’s surely because I’m good-looking, rich and a great footballer,” he jauntily told Marca after the match.

“They’re jealous of me. I don’t have any other explanation.”

Ronaldo also took the time to lambast Norwegian referee Oddvar Moen, who failed to pull-up the hosts for a series of fouls on the

Portuguese winger who finished the game with a bloody ankle which needed stitches in the dressing room later on.

“He was an embarrassment,” Ronaldo slammed.

“It’s sad because referees say they will protect the most skilful players, but while others can’t be touched, I am fouled all the time.

“I hope this referee never takes charge of another of our games because he is an embarrassment!”
