Pottinger tackles… Spain

Some news from Spanish football…

REAL MADRID

I really dislike Cristiano Ronaldo, so this ridiculous build up he’s getting at Real Madrid is pleasing me greatly. Ronaldo is already quashing rumours that the influx of superstars into the Spanish capital this summer is unsettling the players. Perhaps not just yet Cristiano, but wait until the likes of Benzema, Raul and Van Nistelrooy are keeping the bench warm, I think you’ll find you might not be the best of friends. He’s also gone on to say he sees no reason why Real can’t copy Barcelona and win the treble this season. They concede too many to win the Champions League, and it’ll be a cold day in hell before they unsettle a secure and well balanced Barcelona side.

Prediction: Copa Del Rey at best. As for Ronaldo, the worlds two best players are still at the Catalan champions.

SEVILLA

Didier Zokora wins this weeks joker award by claiming he thinks Sevilla can challenge for La Liga and the Champions League. Maybe he hasn’t read Madrid’s summer signing’s or watched Barcelona’s previous season.

I emailed him this:Barcelona vs Sevilla 2008/09

Prediction: Should have entered the Inter Toto

BARCELONA

I would trust Pep Guardiola with my life and though his desperate attempt to offload Eto has surprised many, it hasn’t me. Sure 36 goals a season is not to be scoffed at but as Barcelona’s front man you get around 15 easy chances a game, and I cannot recall quite how many sitters the man has missed. Guardiola is right, ship off his huge ego and bring in Villa or Forlan, though I’d argue that Barcelona could continue without a new striker provided they got an injury free season from Iniesta

Prediction: Due to his ridiculous wage demands I see another season at Camp Nou for Eto. Barcelona to retain the league and a close call on the Champions League
