This time round we will be giving you some more general betting tips, and looking at the different markets open to betting.

Personally, I enjoy betting for fun on long-odds bets such as accumulators. For example, with accumulators, it means I take an interest in matches I wouldn’t normally be bothered about (e.g. lower leagues, or foreign matches). Also, with a few matches on each, it’s great banter with a couple of mates on a Saturday afternoon following all the scores. Other markets of this kind that can be fun include scorecasts (correct first goalscorer & correct final score in a double), corner bets, time of goal etc.

This kind of betting can be great fun, and the possible payout is quite high, however the chances of winning are relatively slim (as reflected in the odds). Other markets can be easier to play, and with a bit of knowledge I believe it’s a safer way to make money. These include mainly more evenly priced bets, for example, half time-full time bets, full time results, or goal/no goal betting. This last type (goal/no goal) is particularly interesting, as on one hand you bet on both teams scoring, or the no goal bet means you bet on either team not to score. These bets have very even odds, meaning most of the time either is almost equally likely to happen.

These more evenly weighted bets are safer, but to have more fun, I recommend the first lot I talked about. Remember to always do your research before determining what are the best online betting sports sites for you and only ever bet what you can afford to lose.
