5 Weird and Wonderful Goal Celebrations
This weekend Jimmy Bullard mimicked Phil Brown’s ridiculous team talk putting Tanfastic’s #1 customer firmly in his place. It’s one of the best callbacks I’ve seen in months so here’s a few celebrations that benefit from a bit of background reading.
5. Fowler’s “Traditional Cameroonian Grass Eating” Celebration

Gerard Houllier actually tried to claim Rigobert Song had taught Fowler this traditional African celebration after the Liverpool player was fined £60 000 for this celebration. I’ve never seen anyone snort cocaine or eat grass but I know which this was meant to be.
Robbie agrees with me, he later said that he was reacting to allegations of drug abuse from Everton fans.
4. Klinsmann Dive
On scoring his debut goal for Tottenham Klinsmann responds to criticism of his diving tactics. And they say the Germans don’t have a sense of humour.
3. Bellamy practices his swing
This was Bellamy’s responce to allegations that he’d attacked team mate, John Arne Riise with a golf club while training in Portugal. The fact that John Arne Riise escaped without any injuries is why I’m on Bellamy’s side for once.
2. Half-Time Team Talk

“Cheeky chappy” Jimmy Bullard puts Jon Culshaw and Alistair McGowan to shame with this impression.
1. Gazza’s Dentist’s Chair
Before Euro 96 the England team were accused of lacking professionalism after being photographed in Hong Kong on a night of heavy drinking. The criticism focussed on photographs of Gazza and Teddy Sheringham playing a drinking game called the Dentist’s chair. The rules are pretty much explained by the video above.
