After Sunday’s humiliating defeat, the Wigan players have decided to pay back the cost of the ticket to the fans who travelled to White Hart Lane.

In the world of obscene riches that is football, it’s refreshing to see this gesture.

“We feel that as a group of players we badly let down our supporters yesterday,” said Wigan captain Mario Melchiot

Earlier in the season, Dave Whelan announced that Wigan Athletic would have a few games this season where tickets are free, as a way of paying back the fans for their loyal support.

Let’s hope other clubs/players adopt the same sense of morals as Wigan have.
