Serie A Review
As reported in my last Serie A review, there were two big games this weekend with Milan taking on Roma at the San Siro and Juventus taking on Fiorentina at the Olimpico. Milan needed victory if Leonardo was to remain as manager for at least another week, while Juventus needed a win to restart their title bid after failing to win in their previous three games.

Serie A 17th/18th October Results
Juventus 1-1 Fiorentina
Genoa 0-5 Inter Milan
Chievo 1-2 Bari
Livorno 1-2 Palermo
Udinese 1-3 Atalanta
Catania 2-1 Cagliari
Lazio 1-1 Sampdoria
Parma 1-0 Siena
Napoli 2-1 Bologna
Milan 2-1 Roma
Round-Up
Inter produced a five-star performance against Genoa to remain top of the league. Without Eto’o and Milito in the squad, people were wondering if the Nerazzurri might struggle against a Genoa side who have been performing well so far this season. However, five different scorers (including a half way line volley from Stankovic) allowed Inter to take three points and it would appear they remain the most likely title winners.
Juventus’ winning drought continued against Fiorentina even after Amauri scored his first goal since February as they struggled against the Viola. Ciro Ferrara reported in a press conference following the game that he is at a loss for words with the lack of goals and thus wins for ‘the old lady’ and they need to turn it around before it becomes a habit.
Milan actually won their battle with Roma. I was very surprised with this result especially after they went 1-0 down in the 2nd minute but a Ronaldinho penalty and a 67th minute Pato goal has prolonged Leonardo’s reign as coach, at least until tonight when they face Real Madrid in the Champions League. If they get spanked by Madrid then I can see Leonardo being sacked tomorrow morning even with the victory on Sunday.
One last thing to add, Sampdoria’s draw with Lazio at the weekend leaves them 2nd in Serie A only two points behind Inter Milan so we can all hope they keep the pressure on as an outside contender for the title.
