Serie A Review
Seven league games into the season, Juventus, Inter and Sampdoria remain the early pace setters, but with Fiorentina and this seasons surprise package, Genoa, hot on their heels, for how long can the Nerazzurri stay top? Milan are still stuttering, and one must assume that Leonardo’s days are numbered, but after eight years of Ancelotti, perhaps that is precisely what the Brazilian needs, time. With wins for Roma, Genoa and Palermo, perhaps the Serie A is finally hotting up?

Round-Up
Inter Milan gained a creditable victory against Udinese although Di Natale continued his rich vein of form by netting his ninth goal of the season. A brace from Totti gave Roma victory over Napoli however they still remain in mid-table and travel to the San Siro next weekend to take on Leonardo’s faltering Milan side in what could be a do-or-die match for the Rossoneri who salvaged a point against Atalanta last weekend via an 83rd minute goal from Ronaldinho.
With Real Madrid next in the Champions League and Roma in the league, Leonardo’s side need to find their form quickly.
Palermo shocked Juventus, beating them 2-0 with goals from Cavani and Simplicio, and in truth, it really couldn’t have been more simple. The ‘Vecchia Signora’ offered little attack-wise and were hit on the break several times. Despite the obvious creativity within the squad, it was Palermo who displayed title-quality tendencies and although they are unlikely to win much this season they will be hard-pressed to find many negatives from that performance.
Next weekend
While all eyes will be on Milan Vs Roma, it is likely that Juventus Vs Fiorentina, who clash in a battle between 3rd and 4th, will provide the best entertainment especially as both sit on 14 points and are defensively inconsistent. The battle between Melo and Montolivo will be decisive, and the Italian will be keen to emulate Palermo’s Mark Bresciano, who played a fine game in the middle of the park.
