I know women’s football isn’t as popular as the men’s game but for some strange reason, I’ve barely heard about our girls reaching the final of the Women’s Euro 2009 tournament in Finland, to face the old enemy Germany.

Firstly In The Stands would like to congratulate you for your fantastic achievement to get this far. This is the team’s best performance in a tournament since UEFA and FIFA created them so to reach the final is already a great result. We wish you all the best for the final.

The women however face an uphill task as they face in the final on Thursday the reigning World and European Champions, Germany. The Germans also possess three time player of the year and prolific striker Birgit Prinz. One positive though is captain Faye White who fractured her cheekbone against Finland in the quarter finals will return, after fears she will miss out. She will instead wear a protective mask for the final.
