La La La Liga 01/09/09
Delivering more Sun, Sex and Sangria than a date-rapist waiter in Ibiza. Here’s the results from the opening week…

Barcelona 3 – 0 Sporting de Gijón
U.D Almeria 0 – 0 Valladolid
Valencia 2 – 0 Sevilla
Málaga 3 – 0 Atletico Madrid
Racing Santander 1 – 4 Getafe C.F
Osasuna 1 – 1 Villarreal
Mallorca 2 – 0 Xerez
Athletic Bilbao 1 – 0 Espanyol
Zaragoza 1 – 0 Tenerife
Real Madrid 3 – 2 Deportivo La Coruna
Valencia 2 – 0 Sevilla
A suprising result for me. Valencia have had money troubles for as long as I’ve had pubes (About 2 years) and I couldn’t see them beating a strong Sevilla side even at home. Valencia have held onto their prized assets in Silva and Villa which could see them pushing for the Champions League this season.
Málaga 3 – 0 Atletico Madrid
Good job I didn’t put any bets on because I’d have had this one down as a definite Madrid win. Malaga are a decent side but you would expect a Champions League team with the likes of Forlan and Aguero to gain 3 points here.
Real Madrid 3 – 2 Deportivo La Coruna
The game everyone’s had their eyes on. Honestly there was little change from the Real Madrid of last season. Good going forward, the highlights being the marvelous Kaka and a bright performance from Benzema. Ronaldo scored a penalty but sulked his way through the match as he got kicked about La Liga style (Read: Ignore the ball, ankles ankles ankles).
Ultimately however it was Madrid’s defense that was the talking point. Leakier than a boat full of leeks with a hole in it on the way to Leek, Dean Windass would have bagged a hat-trick. Fans will claim that this will be resolved with Pepe and Ramos back but that’s like asking Mohmmed Ali and Michael J Fox to hold your cup of tea.
Barcelona 3 – 0 Sporting de Gijón
The reason Barcelona will win La Liga this season is because of the latter half of that score. A clean sheet, though against a poor team, is the key to their winning the league, and Barcelona looked supremely confident (With the unpronouncable Chygrynsky just signed and tipped to be the new Vidic) at the back.
Ibrahimovic made his league debut and it was a strange one. A mixture of lethargy and wit saw him get a goal late on, but frankly he looked petulant for the most part. Guardiola will certainly not let that continue and with his confidence up I’m predicting a lot of goals from the Swede. On a lighter note young Bojan looks an absolute class act this season, although I’m sick of having to hide erections as he flies past defenders.

Get your opinion in there. I don’t care or anything, but it would be nice.
