Real Madrid have made sure they have protected their latest investment by insuring his legs for £85 million (€100 million).

Goal are reporting that superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has had his legs insured by his club in case he suffers a serious injury. The Madrid club will be suitably compensated should he ever be injured.

Sounds like smart business sense from the money men in Madrid but that is an awfully expensive insurance premium. It remains to be seen whether other new signings like Kaka and Benzema will be insured as surely this would cause some disharmony in the squad.

A cheaper alternative would have been if they contacted our superstar Matt Pottinger to fill in for Ronaldo when he is injured. For added convenience he is fluent in Spanish and cheap to run, but I heard he has some offers on the table that he’s considering.
