Alonso out… Cattermole in

The latest from Anfield suggests that Xabi Alonso will be completing his move to Real Madrid, with Wigan midfielder Lee Cattermole taking his place.
It has been one of the drawn out sagas over the last couple of weeks but it finally looks like Xabi Alonso is set to join the Real Madrid revolution for a fee reported to be around the €34 million. As mentioned in the defensive midfielder position analysis Alonso is central to Liverpool’s success but it looks like he is set to leave.
As his replacement, it looks like Wigan and England U21 star Lee Cattermole is the main candidate for around £12 million. He is a lot more combative than Alonso, a lot more like Mascherano in that respect and he has a touch of quality that will only grow as he gets older.
Good business by Rafa? By the looks of it yes as Xabi Alonso is replacable and Cattermole will add a greater resilience to the Liverpool engine room, with a lot more pennies to spare…

Ye but can Cattermole make a pinpoint pass every time like Alonso can?
Alonso is certainly an awesome passer of the ball, and his overall game intelligence is just as impressive. But I wouldn’t go so far as to think he’s irreplacable like many people seem to think.
Alonso has been at LFC for 5 seasons but he really only turned it on for 2 of them….
I think Catermole has got the right mentality to make it as a Liverpool player, but there’s other players which Rafa might go for also (Martinez, Aguilani etc)….
No he cant hit a pin point pass.
Worst use of paint ever!!
Could it be possible that Cattermole may be a replacement for Mascherano?
He like Alonso seems to fancy a move to Spain and if Barca came knocking – good bye Mascherano.
no comment on the football side of things but thats a really nice job you’ve done on the collar of the liverpool shirt ash..
its good to see people are loving my masterpieces. Check out the other ones on the website x
Cattermole is the only man that could replace xabi if he has to go. What a name that boy has!
